Brighton & Hove Albion women recorded back-to-back victories in stunning fashion after recovering from a goal down to claim a superb victory over Gillingham at the Priestfield Stadium.

Braces from Charlotte Owen, captain Jay Blackie and a strike from Amy Taylor gave Albion their biggest win of the season to date in front of 249 spectators at the Priestfield Stadium. The hosts took the lead with the first meaningful opportunity of the game when Louise Lorton capitalised on a defensive error to fire a close-range finish past Faye Baker.
This sparked the Seagulls into action as Lucy Somes fired just wide of the target before Sophie Perry tested keeper Courtney Shanley with a strike from distance.
Blackie then tested Shanley with another long distance drive until Albion’s pressure paid off with an equaliser in the 20th minute.
Perry drilled in a dangerous cross from the left-hand side and Blackie was there at the far post to slide home against her former club.
Perry then linked up superbly with Fliss Gibbons and Owen before the Gills cleared the danger.
Albion took the lead three minutes before the break, as Owen slid the ball into the net from inside the box after some sublime link-up play between Charley Boswell and Gibbons.
Somes then came close to netting a third for James Marrs’s side just minutes after the re-start, but was denied by a point blank save from Shanley.
Two became three in the 52nd minute when Owen's superb improvised back-heeled finish created daylight between the sides.
Somes played a pivotal part for Albion’s fourth goal, as her cross was met by Blackie, whose header flew past Shanley just past the hour mark.
Owen then nearly completed a hat-trick in spectacular manner, but her strike from distance cannoned off the crossbar to safety.
Taylor rounded off a remarkable victory with two minutes to spare, firing home a rebound from an initial shot by Gibbons in a five-star display.
