Step 1 - identify best 11 players in any order ie: Bruno, Dunk, Greer, Bennett, Texeira. Lua Lua, McCourt, Stephens, Baldock, Holla, Stockdale

step 2 - line them up in their best positions

Stockdale
Bruno Greer Dunk Bennett
Holla Stephens
Texeira McCourt Lua Lua
Baldock

step 3 - check if they are fit and replace Stephens who is not by the next best say Ince

step 4 - identify next best as subs

CMS O'grady March Crofts Calderon Hughes Ankergren JFC

step 5 - identify weaknesses

right midfield (alternative to Texeira/McCourt) and striker (alternative to Baldock). Make note to address in January

And there you have it. What's difficult about that?

Sami doesn't know his best team
This odd statement popped up on last weeks 'Roar', along the lines of 'nobody can pick Sami's team'.

Considering we've had the same back 6 pretty much all season.
7 - JFC hasn't missed too many games.
8 & 9 - T'Shearer and KLL seem to play more at home. Crofts & more so KLL away.
10 & 11 - Any 2 from Colunga CMS and Baldock.

Gardener is pushing for Crofts job.
McCourt is sub deluxe.
Ince would seem to be the only other realistic starter, ahead of Toko in Holla's position.

The formation although still seems scary at times would appear to be solidifying.

This. Watching last night, Sami's system seemed so completely clear, and worked so much better with 'technical' players playing in midfield (JFC, Gardner), rather than 'dynamic' players (Ince, Crofts).

No.

We need to decide on the system/style of play and pick the 11 players that work best together in that system. It may or may not be the best 11 players, but it will be the best team.

?

Adds or subtracts 100 points????

It would be better to make sure you include a goalkeeper. And at least three defenders. Rather than just the best 11 players.

I've an idea..... Pick the 11 most skilled players and tell them to go out, play and enjoy themselves. And try not fill their heads with all the crap we now have to put up with from Gary Neville, Redknapp and co. 'Pundits' a waste of space, trying to look clever with their retrospective game plays.

I'm not convinced that Stockdale is one of our best 11 players. By your logic, I should replace him with CMS...

Very much this ... with the addition of ... get 11 players that can play the system, and/or have the capability to pick it up
