Brighton & Hove Albion and Albion in the Community will have a significant presence at this year’s Football Business Awards, featuring in the shortlists of five different award categories, and supported by business partners Overline Network Consultants and TribeHive. For a third consecutive year AITC has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Football Community Scheme’ award, recognising the charity’s on-going work with the Sussex community to increase participation in sport, tackle inequality, improve health and wellbeing, and boost education and employment opportunities.
AITC has also again been shortlisted for the ‘Best Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme’ award, having been crowned the champions at the Football Business Awards 2013.
Newly established company TribeHive, formed after a successful collaboration between the club and the University of Sussex, are a finalist in the ‘Best Football App’ category.
Albion and the University worked together to discover a way to improve smartphone internet connectivity at the American Express Community Stadium; the solution was The Albion (formerly Digital Stadium) smartphone app.
The app enables users to view live scores, match statistics, league tables, fixtures and results, news and player profiles.

In addition, the app facilitates access to social media and live travel information. The Albion app is available for Android and Apple smartphones from Google Play Store and the App Store, respectively. The club is also a proud finalist in the ‘Best Fan Engagement by a Club’ category for its annual Young Seagulls Christmas Party.
Last year’s Christmas Party saw 2,000 Young Seagulls descend on the Amex Stadium for an afternoon filled with festive fun, including a Santa’s grotto, roller rink and disco, and the chance to nab an autograph and a photo with the Seagulls’ first-team players.
Finally, Albion’s telecoms provider, Overline, has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Business Serving Football - over £2m turnover’ category.
The company’s director, Jason Young, commented: "It’s always an extremely proud moment when we are recognised for the work we do. But in relation to the projects we managed for the Amex Stadium and American Express Elite Football Performance Centre it is truly spectacular.
“The entire project was a team effort and involved many members of the Overline team that were not only local people, but also fans. So to be nominated as a finalist for the 2014 Football Business Awards is overwhelming."
The awards ceremony will take place in the Great Hall at Chelsea FC on 6th November 2014 – good luck to all!
