Mark Beeney.

Edit - I failed to read the title. This being the player sold that has had the biggest effect, not the biggest mistake obviously!

Playing Richard Tiltman ahead of Dean Saunders and then selling Dean for peanuts.

Letting Mark Lawrenson go to Liverpool.

Turning Roy Keane down before he joined Forest

Of the 4 poll options, only choosing not to pay Murray what he wanted, and declining to sign up Wright could fairly be deemed mistakes.

Selling Leo for what will top TEN MILLION pounds was sensible business, and the club had no choice but to accept the forced sale of Saunders (for a scandalous low figure).

Saunders wasn't that good certainly not in the same league as the others , the biggest mistake over Saunders was Swansea letting him go for NOWT

His next transfer fee was £1M and Liverpool broke the record for an English player transfer when they signed him after that. £60k was a joke.
This is a bit different from Deano

This. And as we were't present at the trial, who can say this was a mistake - perhaps he didn't do himself justice.

Letting Barnes go should be up there.

Letting Leo go and NOT signing a sufficiant replacement is the mistake. £8-10 million is good business, but we should of been spending £3-4 million on his replacement.

Lawro '81, won the last 4 to stay up then relegated never to return. If we had kept him we MAY have stayed up for a decade & possibly even be still there today? (See Stoke/west B) so stretching the imagination & £70m TV etc we could be £1 BILLION worse off as a result

Dean Saunders and Mark Beeney were both sold on the banks insistence so we had no choice. Roy Keane arrived and went straight back home as he was homesick. Ian Wright was only a young lad playing non league for Greenwich and the management decided he didnt have the potential to be any good. Ulloa was sold for a decent price which represented a good deal for us. Murray in hindsight was a mistake but I think that 2 others were bigger b...s ups

Mullery wanted to buy Paul Stewart from Blackpool on a reccomendation from Peter Suddaby but Mike Bamber said No he cant be any good as Everton and Liverpool arent after him, a couple of weeks later Malcolm Allison signed him for Man City. Trevor Stevens was recomended by a scout but the head scout went to watch him and said he was too small and not to bother after that he signed for Everton and had a very distinguished career with Monaco, Rangers and England.

Correct about Trevor Steven (not Stevens - different player)

Also, around the exact same time, we had John Aldridge here on trial in pre-season, but turned him down. In the corridor outside the changing rooms / tunnel at the Goldstone, there used to be a load of printed photos of players in training. One showed a load of them struggling up a hill on a run, with Aldridge at the front.

Dean Saunders was sold for 60k and once that deal was done oxford paid 140k for martin foyle from the shots:facepalm: I THINK THEY MIGHT HAVE EXPECTED TO PAY MORE FOR DEANO AND HAD CASH SPARE???

Why are we going on about Glen Murray FFS, He turned down a new contract did he not?.
Did he not got greedy, and tried to break our wage budget!, which tony bloom will never do for obvious reasons.

Total crap , he didn't start playing for Blackpool till 1981 and Mullery had left by then , he joined Man City in 1987 and Allison and Bamber were history by then

Murrays agent pretty much screwed up any chance of him playing for us. His agent stupidly pushed for far too much money and got told to do one, Gus's ego wouldn't allow Murray to come back after Murray was going to accept the wages.

Letting Ashley Barnes go would be one of the biggest in my eyes. Yes he COULD have gone for free at the end of the season but we desperately needed another forward until then. He may have even signed a new contract..
