URGENT! Fullback tactics are not working!

We are expecting our fullbacks to do the majority of our attack play? Whilst players who are better at it are expected to drop back or over as cover for them, like Crofts had to today when Bruno bombed on. Crofts has a goal in him and can create and press at will knowing the security and presence of defenders behind him! This maybe old fashioned and English, but we must remember the level we are at and that we dont have Alves and Alaba at full back and quality box to box midfielders! I know Sami is familiar with a higher calibre of player than he is currently managing, but he needs to quickly grasp the level of the Championship!

& maybe he's not Pep Guardiola either?..
(agree with your post though)

It is all a bit odd and not at all clear what we are trying to do. That fullbacks aren't really trying to get behind the last man and get in a cross and there would be no height in the middle if they did anyway. On the other hand we aren't really trying to play the ball through the middle on the ground and when we did try we had way below the required technique to do so. So despite having the ball in their half most of the time we didn't create a clear cut chance after the first minute. A Major worry given it is hard to imagine a weaker team at the Amex this season.

Bennet is just not pushing on enough,.... Bruno pushed on down the left more than Joe, and that's from a right back position....it was odd.

If full backs are meant to provide all the width and attacking intent, shouldn't we play Toko and Ince as the holding midfielders? They are both defensive minded and will be able to cover each full back position well. Putting JFC and Holla in a position where they have to cover an out-of-position full back doesn't really work, and wastes one of our better attacking players.

Fullback tactics don’t work when you have no fullbacks!

Looks like Veltman might be crocked. Milner can’t handle top players like Saka.

Please can we sign some more in January Uncle Tony?

Sami would've loved Estupiñan. Hopefully, Barco will sign but Man City still appear to be very interested.

When's Lamptey back?

Milner was awful and has been every time at L/B or R/B.

He's obviously going to need a bit of help against pacy players in those positions and doesn't get it from Mitoma or Adingra, who tend to switch off and leave him one-on-one.
Maybe or the fact he is no longer good enough. Today it was obvious after 5 minutes. He can't expect help every time, Mitoma has his job to do further up. Milner neither closed down or stopped any crosses. He spent most of the time in no man's land.

Saka would make any LB look awful tbh but yeah, out of his depth today.
RDZ at fault. We aren't starting with the best team, we're finishing much stronger.
