Article in the Sunday Times couple of weeks ago talking about how some of these things are a waste of money. Didn't read it myself but might be worth looking up.

I think a lot depends on the "variability" of movements to and from home. The more 'in and out' you are the more benefit you can get

There are lots on the market like that, sure you can get cheaper if you look. Honeywell and Nest sell them.

It's great.
I got it free cos I work for BG and went on an installation course for HIVE.
I think it's free if you get your gas and electric from them, might be wrong though

I just use a timer since I know when I will be in/out each day or evening. I really don't see the benefit

Oh. So, with a phone that doesn't do Apps, it's about as useful as an ash tray on a motorbike then? Thank god I've got a thermostat!

Had a look at the link - this still does nothing that my thermostat doesn't do using it's 7 day timer

The only thing is turning it up and down shortly before returning home, the cost saving of which would be next to nothing

I use this device called a programmer it came with the house, pretty easy to set.

But your telling me some people are paying £200 to operate their heating from their phone, what next opening the curtains by using a phone?
