We played our first EVER home game in the Second Division.

Fresh from a 9-0 mauling at Middlesbrough the previous week, we needed to bounce back, against...........................

Charlton Athletic

We restored some pride with a 2-2 draw, our goals coming from Denis Foreman and Dave Sexton

... and who would trust the judgement of ANYONE who eats SOUP at 10 o'clock in the morning?

Yes and no. The club was Southern League Champions and beat football league champions - hence the Charity Shield trophy and were champions of England before the full national league started. Also the Albion are a regional club with a regional identity. Sussex CCC and the Albion. You are born into the Albion if Sussex. That is why it didnt matter the club would be n the 3rd or 4th division, they could still pull 30,000 for Rochdale. The club is very lucky with its support, its just never had a team to match it.

Lewis Carroll

Beautiful Soup, so rich and green,
Waiting in a hot tureen!
Who for such dainties would not stoop?
Soup of the evening, beautiful Soup!

Beau - ootiful Soo - oop!

Soo - oop of the e - e - evening,
Beautiful, beautiful Soup!
