One of the European leagues a couple of years back had something mental like 8 points separating 20-odd teams, was somewhere like Croatia if memory serves.

Championship. Look at Fulham this season and Wolves beforehand. Also take into account that , although its early days Sheffield Wednesday are up there when they were lucky not to get relagated last season.

In the Spanish 2nd Division last season only 11 points separated Cordoba who finished 7th (and were promoted via the play offs) and Mirandes who finished in a relegation place in 19th. Every side in the league won at least 11 matches (that being more than 25% of the fixtures). There were only 26 points between top and bottom.

In the Championship there were more than 26 points between Leicester and 5th placed Wigan.

Premier league, four teams realistically could win it, ligue 1, two at most, Bundesliga, two or three maybe,serie a, two or three, La liga, three at most, Championship, anyone of about ten.
