[Brighton] Replica kit for babies and under 6yrs

I got this great reply from the club and thought I'd share it with you all:

Thank you for getting in touch with Seagulls Direct regarding "mini kits".

Nike currently do not supply any sizes below X-Small Boys (age 6-8) in the kits they provide to the club. For this reason we appointed an alternative manufacturer who specialise in making mini-kits for clubs in situations such as this - a common challenge for a lot of clubs.

Our Albion "mini-kit" will be available to purchase in the autumn for £33. This price will be inclusive of a full kit comprising of shirt, shorts and socks but it will not feature Nike branding.

The reason for the delay is that the manufacturing process can take up to 6 months. With our new home kit having a 2 year lifespan we wanted to ensure the mini kit is an accurate representation of the larger sized kit made by Nike, hence we held back production until we could provide the manufacturer with one of the first actual home kits produced by Nike for the first team.

Our specialist supplier then manufactures the mini-kit using a combination of the kit designs we provided to them initially, and use the actual first team kit as a point of reference to ensure accuracy.

It is regrettable that we can’t provide our youngest fans with a kit of their own to wear in the early part of the season, but our priority was to make sure we do it right, rather than quickly, and to ensure that when available the mini kit is great quality and great value for money.

I hope this provides some further clarity on this situation and we look forward to sharing more information when available. Please check back in regularly at www.seagullsdirect.co.uk where details will become available in due course.

Kind regards,

Claire

Mini Drumstick the 1st is due September 21st so timing is fine by me. Thanks for finding out I had wondered but presumed it wasn't an option.

That explains a lot, little Gull (Mark 1) appeared on the 8th June and I've got a hankering to get him fully Albion-friendly...

So we've signed up for a kit manufacturer that doesn't cater for kids under 6? Good as the Nike deal maybe that's really poor IMO.

33 quid for a mini kit that isn't Nike? Seems a bit steep for a replica of a replica for a baby.

I'm sure Nike have done mini kits in the past, and for around that price.

'The boy' has had a replica every season since birth (2009), (yes I know! But I couldn't resist) so errea managed it. If they are 4 years old get em a replica Peacehaven shirt, made by Joma same as the team and knock out for £20.

Here here, and let's have some Peacehaven shirts added to a reasonably well patronised website for displaying old football shirts.

Pm me an address and you've got one, a real one, not a photo, on the house!

EDIT an older one BTW not the latest!

You know me, I'm a fan of the older shirts anyway, that's a most generous offer, thank you.

I've been thinking for a while now about adjusting the focus of my collection to go for Sussex teams and see how many I can get. I can add the PTFC to my fledgling Sussex collection that has currently, Horsham, Worthing, Worthing United & Brighton.

I was surprised to see no women's fit shirts, nor any woman's branded clothes. The females are even less important than the under 6's it seems.

It is odd, as Nike do make womens cut shirts, and kids ones. I guess at the end of the day it just isn't cost effective for us to do them. They should ay least be able to do the away and third kit in kids and womens sizes I would have thought.

I get that, but there are many female supporters, who wear colours. The pink version of the strip before last was very popular too. I of course am no expert in the % take-up etc, but I assume there must be some demand?

I'm sure the demand is there, for sure, but if there is no will to do it by the manufacturer, then the club can do little about it, hence the fact the club has comissioned its own little 'uns kits. I wonder of the Club has to pay a royalty to Nike for those?
