My two home pages, google chrome and firefox have been taken over by a site called www.istart123 any idea how to get rid of it please?

I have been told it is not a safe site. I have tried the remove programs route but although it was removed from the list, it is still on the home page.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Download and run malwarebytes anti malware. CCleaner is also a good tool for removal of this sort of thing. Is it hijacking all browsers or just certain ones. Also google istart123 removal, this will give you a lot of websites that should help remove these PUP's.

Go to settings, reset the home page to whatever you had before eg. Google/Sky.com/XHamster.
Might then need to uninstall istart in your list of installed progs. Clear caches etc using CCleaner or alike. Clean registry also.
Run a free online scan (Nod32 from Eset gets about everything)
Might need to reset home pages again.

Then turn it off and back on again!

do this, but also first check your "add/remove programs" for programs that were recently added that you dont recognise. also the "Startup" folder in Start>All Programs. these things often happen from a mild malware infection that populates other crap around to re-set the hoempage.

Good call. Also download MalwareBytes and give your pc a scan.
