Am thinking of getting an xbox one or ps4 but am not sure if there worth it, does anyone on here have one and if so is it worth the upgrade from an xbox 360.

I have neither. There are plans afoot for a PS4 for a multitude of reasons. But flatly refuse to spend c£350 on a console. Wait until after Christmas, I'd be surpised if the price of both doesn't drop.
In the meantime, 360/Ps3 are fine as most new releases still come out on them if you're that desperate to play them.

If there's nothing that makes you want to buy one stick with the 360, plenty of new games are still coming out for that console including Destiny the next 'big' game. I have owned a PS4 since launch but other than a slightly smoother experience there hasn't been any 'must haves'.
The big release for me that will finally justify the purchase will be Bloodbourne early next year.
