ALBION'S bid to solve their left-back headache by bringing Stephen Ward back to the Amex from Wolverhampton Wanderers is rumbling on.
The Seagulls held talks with Wolves last week but failed to reach an agreement, The Argus can reveal.
Ward has been Albion's first choice all summer after his successful loan spell last season.
A deal remains possible for the Republic of Ireland international before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
The sticking point is the overall financial package. Albion are reluctant to fork out a combination of the six-figure fee Wolves are demanding as well as Ward's £13,000-a-week wages after paying £10,000-a-week during his loan stint.
In the meantime they continue to be linked with other left-backs.
Liverpool's Jack Robinson has been mentioned and Lee Wallace of Glasgow Rangers is the latest name in the frame, according to reports in Scotland.
Both Rangers manager Ally McCoist and the player's representative are, however, said to be unaware of a reported offer from Albion for Wallace, who attracted interest in January from Championship rivals Nottingham Forest.
Youngster Adam Chicksen played at left-back in the Capital One Cup against Cheltenham at the Amex last night.
