Just looked on yell.com and it shows only 1 shop in Lewes. Looking for cheapish meal before the game near Prison or Bus Station any suggestions at under £10 head

We went in the Lewes Arms after the game on Saturday and the food was reasonably priced in there and the ales were great too. Its only a few minutes walk from the bus station.

There's a fish and chip shop on (ironically) Fisher St. It's ok. The better one by miles and miles is on South St.

The nearest place to the prison is Yummy Yummy, almost opposite the Black Horse on Western Road. Decent Chinese but dire fish and chips.

Just looked Lewes Arms up but doesnt show a menu or any description of type of food just home cooked local produce. Brother in law doesnt like herby or peppery food.

South Street fish and chip shop is the best in Lewes. It's only a minutes walk away from the bus station. A portion of chips is £1.60 in there.

The South Street one changed ownership and has gone downhill big-time. Now rated the worst food establishment in the entire Lewes area on Tripadvisor. Not just online, Lewes mates used to love that chippie ... but now avoid it like The Plague.

Decent English grub and plenty of specials. Funnily enough, I had fish and chips:lolol: It was less than a tenner and they had Sirlion steak and chips etc for £10.95 which looked decent value looking at the size of the plates.

Lewes Arms is run by the same people who have The Basketmakers in Brighton and has a similar menu. Lots of specials, quality is okay and not too expensive. Best pub food in Lewes is probably down at The Snowdrop. Menu changes frequently and is usually good quality with most main courses at around the £10 mark but that is at the wrong end of town for you. John Harvey Tavern has a small menu that doesn't change much but isn't too bad (Harvey's beer battered fish & chips is always on the menu) and only a couple of minutes walk from the bus station.

Neither of the pubs near the prison (Black Horse or Pelham Arms) has good value food. There is The Café just north of the prison crossroads but not sure what their Saturday opening times are. It is a basic café but has always been cheap and cheerful.

So basically his brother in law likes his food as bland as possible. They might as well nip into tescos and get him a box of farleys rusks.
:lolol:yeah ,reminds me of that comedy sketch WHERE THE INDIANS GO INTO AN ENGLISH RESTAURANT AND ASK FOR THE BLANDEST FOOD THEY DO :lolol:
