A quick look at our first 5 league fixtures and with homes games against last seasons mid table opposition, Sheff Wed, Bolton & Charlton and away games at Birmingham who were nearly relegated and Leeds who are in turmoil, frankly we should be top by the end of August without doubt!!

We might not have made the signings we should by now but perhaps as the opposition is so weak that might by another reason why! Surely Sami's going to get MOTM.

Not sure if Leeds will be in turmoil, they have signed a few, notably some from top Italian clubs, but maybe best to play them before they have settled.

I think Leeds are one of those teams, like Fulham, where things can either go really well or really badly. It might be a case that they start strong and then when things start to go wrong an overreaction from their owner just exacerbates things, and perhaps playing them later will be better. Or it could, like soulman says, be better to play them now while they're still unsure what to make of the boss and his tactics. Or maybe it will always be a good time to play them because they will be a mess all season.

1938/39 they were posting the very same ALL over the forums, but after a couple of wins the wheels came off against Mansfield. A mixed bag after that followed by a battering of Exeter. YOU NEVER CAN TELL.

Football is played on a pitch and not on paper based on past performances. All games start 0 0 and we will have to see how we go.

What I would reckon is that we should be competitive in the games and hopefully the results will go our way. None of the five clubs are likely to be out of place in this division so I expect 5 tough games.

I seem to remember us doing really well against the struggling teams last season - it was only our poor form against the top 3 that cost us automatic....
