Literally, he does come out with absolute shit sometimes doesn't he?

A short bit of what he has wrote..

Albion's latest two signings, David Stockdale and Chris O'Grady, were born four months apart in the mid 1980's. You might think there is nothing particularly significant about that. But the purchases of the former Fulham goalkeeper and ex-Barnsley striker have not just strengthened the squad, they have also helped address an age imbalance. Albion have a lot of under 23's, promise in abundance in the shape of Solly March, Jake Forster-Caskey, Christian Walton. They also have quite a few well over 30's, such as skipper Gordon Greer and his new partner Aaron Hughes, right-back rivals Bruno and Inigo Calderon.

Does this actually interest anyone?

If you're reading this Andy Naylor (which you probably are) go and get some interesting information instead of looking for it on NSC!

He has to fill space, and some days are quieter than others. If all he writes is shit, why read it? I don't read Richard Littlejohn or Jane Moore because they are bigoted, one dimensional and sneering in their outlook on life, why not do the same with Andy Naylor if that's how you think about him.

It's actually quite an interesting point though, IMHO.

It is important to have a good blend of age-ranges in the squad. We'll potentially need players like DS and COG to step up and use their experience to the betterment of the squad as a whole, particuarly if there are injuries to some of the older players during the season.

It's the weekly Thursday comment column. What do you expect? Seems a valid enough piece to me as a different spin on the recent signings.

Harsh. Why do you read it then? There's a simple solution

There's a huge readership for Albion related stories on The Argus and that means a high demand for fresh content from Naylor and his colleagues. With no "proper" action, limited access to players and management and not much in the way in transfer activity, it's no surprise some articles seem a little forced.

It interests me more than the majority of your posts.

I've said this before, but I don't understand the grief AN gets on here.

He does his job, which is reporting the news, i.e. he is a reporter. It's not as easy as it looks, especially at the moment given that there isn't a huge amount of news around. Plenty of rumours, yes; but actual factual news? Not that the club want to put out just yet.

One week to go to the start of the season and just days before a high profile friendly with Southampton and here Naylor is talking about the ages of player.

He makes a valid point - young, British, single under-21 lads won't have so much in common with the 30+ family men in the squad, so having players in the middle bridging the age gap IS important. But by Christ the transfer news this summer is few and far between!
