Mistakes happen. Just if they happen too often.

Upson giving away the penalty at home to Hull.
Upson passing to MacArthur at home to Wigan.
Bridcutt giving the ball away against West Ham.
Chris Wood missing a penalty against Southampton.
Macca miss in the last minute with 9 men against Burnley.
Barnes heading a Vicente corner against the post against Swindon.
Dunk getting sent off at Palace.

I am sure there are more. First ones I could think of.

Own goals against Liverpool etc.

Ankergren's howler v Forest.

Kuszczak's howler v Birmingham.

Both very late in the games, and if they hadn't happened we'd have finished 2nd that year.

I think the Original posters comments are very harsh.

There will always be mistakes, but only a couple of these could have been prevented.

The one which I will always remember and think could have been prevented was Casper kicking the ball straight back to Leeds with only a minute or so to go.

Ulloa missing two out of three penalties. The first one he missed may have made the difference between promotion and playoffs the season before last.

(Disclaimer it may have been two out of four)

I think we have to cut out the mistakes

Ulloa's header against Hull that he put wide.

I nearly included it because it was memorable. The ball was crossed by Buckley at pace though and was only a half chance, one that would have won the game though.

Dunk's goal for Liverpool trumps most, but it did not matter.

Barnes headed a gaping wide open goal against the post at the south end at the Amex when it seemed easier to score. Was that against Leicester?

Greer made a gigantic cock-up in one home match as well. Was that against Middlesbrough when Danny Graham (prima-donna) scored?

Brezovan at Hull in the fa cup

If that was a mistake it might not have been Brezovan's fault. Curtis Davies caused the same trouble against both Sunderland and Arsenal! Worse as we had Forster-Caskey on the line.

My reckoning is that it was the job of the stopper centre half to control the area (with outswingers moving away from the keeper). In my mind we still need a big man at the back in the Steve Foster/Hangeland mould.

Furthermore, if we had a big stopper centre half he could do a Curtis Davies on our opponents.

Did Ulloa ever score a penalty for us? I'm struggling to think of a game where he did

Ankergren HOWLER against Forest.. that's the one that really stays with me. A better goalkeeper for that game and I really think we would be Premiership now :(

I think I earnt my first and only ever NSC infringement that day!
