Food combos that shouldn't go together but actually work

In a Worthing-based sandwich shop this morning a chap ordered a bacon and banana sandwich. I've never heard this one before. He even convinced another chap in the shop to try one; I must admit he sold it pretty good.

I thought someone having a cheese and ketchup sandwich was bad enough when I was back at school.

What strange food combinations can those on NSC admit to having?

Seconded. In fact, Marmite and banana on toast even better!

Also, if you have any left over curry from the take-away the night before, try that on Marmite on toast. Lovely.

A few years ago I was in Santa Cruz on the boardwalk where they filmed The Lost Boys, which was marvellous! There was a sweet shop that seemed to be pretty famous and the reason was its speciality....

Chocolate coated streaky bacon.

My first thought was not pleasant, but they pointed out that maple syrup and sweet apple go well with pork. So I gave it a go.

It was completely and utterly bloody lovely.

I now make it at home occasionally.

One summer I worked in a fast food outlet on the SC Beach Boardwalk...until I got fired for giving free soft drinks to the other Brits that worked on the rides there.
