Big shame that there's no Keith Richards or Jimmy Page on this, so we have to make do with Brian May who, in my book, is not a great riff-meister.

When I was young I remember nearly every guitar shop I walked past with some aspiring guitarist trying out a guitar was blasting out the intro to Smoke on the Water. Must be one of the most played riffs ever.

I think the most "sampled" riff is by Nile Rodgers

I know the term legend is often over-used but Nile Rodgers really is one.

Watching Great guitar riffs now which followed after on BBC4, was enjoying it especially when The Stone Roses came on, now Radiohead have just come on and ruined it :wrong:

I'm watching a little bit behind, but go the other way: Radiohead -- good; Stone Roses -- bad.
