Is the Albion Sizist?

Over the weekend l just thought, that for a change, l'd treat myself to a new replica shirt. However, when trying to order on-line, l noticed that the biggest size they offer is XXL. Being a tad larger than average l have severe doubts that it will be able to cover my large-ish frame. I have had no problem with Errea shirts in the past, as they were produced right up to 5XL.

Thinking about it, maybe it isn't the Albion being sizist, but Nike. Either way, with obesity on the increase, isn't the club missing out on potential shirt sales here?

Jesus Christ it's bad enough anyone being a size 5XL in any clothing without compounding the embarrassment by wobbling around in a replica football shirt.

Yep - agree entirely. It's Nike though, not the club - they don't do football shirts any larger than XXL. Same goes for training kits as well unfortunately.

Being a larger gentleman myself, I don't tend to wear actual football shirts (although the Toffs retro ones are a perfect fit....), but I do buy a lot of the polo shirts and t-shirts from the club - it will be a shame if they don't stock these in a larger size going forward.....

I agree - I despise myself every day. One thing though - the XL size at Nike is small compared to other brands (ie Adidas, Dunlop etc) - sometimes up to 6" difference.

5 XL :shootself

I Feel for you mate, but surely thats not a normal size and it must be fairly difficult to get anything in that size that you would normally get on the high street without going to a specialist shop!

Yes. My daughter got a free shirt when she was 7, and won't fit in it until she's about 14. My wife can wear it (although it's a bit snug).

When i went into the club shop at the Amex just before they shut for their refit they had plenty of 5XL Errea shirts left, (why stock a size if they don't have enough peaple buying them? - anyway, you could probably still pick up one (or 20) of them if you don't mind having last seasons kit.

Hang on, l didn't say l was a 5XL!, simply that Errea made shirts up to that size. I admit to being a bit of a tubster, but probably no more than a 3XL - ish.

you will probably find that a 3XL Errea is comparable to a Nike 2XL as Errea shirts were notoriously small sized.

Missing out on potential income maybe, dependent on how the Nike contract works - could be the albion recieve a fixed fee no matter how many shirts are sold, and Nike recieve the profits from all shirt sales.

However, if anything, surely it's promoting healthy living, sports clubs shouldn't be catering for those who are horrifically overweight, should be trying to encourage weight loss.

Nothing sexier than a morbidly obese man with a pint in one hand, pie in the other with his bulging chest slowly tearing the armpit seems apart of his brand new football shirt with each bite.

Fit.
