Brighton & Hove Albion boss Sami Hyypia has told Seagulls Player he will take his time to get to know his players - but once he does, they can expect modern methods from their new boss.*
Speaking to the club's online TV channel, he said, "It will be a long process but I try to observe everything that is happening in training and try to find out a little more about the character of each player.
"I think in this profession as a manager knowing your players is very important – and how to handle them. Whether someone needs a kick up the backside, or if someone needs a bit of encouragement.
"That is something that I want to do quickly, to get to know who really needs the kick up the backside. Football nowadays is a more individual sport in this way than before.
"Twenty years ago, everything you did physically, everybody did it. For some it was easy, for some it was too much.
"Now all the fitness training is so individual and I feel handling the players also, has to be like this."
