If you're having to buy the full kit for your kids, get the socks here (they are identical):

http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/Prod...ball-Teamwear-Royal-BlueWhiteWhite-48303.aspx

£2 saved.

And if you don't care about having the Brighton badge on the shorts get them here:

http://store.nike.com/gb/en_gb/pd/d...Nike_Dri-FIT_Knit_NB_II_Men's_Football_Shorts

£8 saved.

Total saving £10 and I doubt anyone will notice the difference. You may even get these cheaper somewhere else, I only googled for a minute.

Where can we get a decent crest from? Might buy a cheap third kit and iron/sow it on. Cheers.

Hmm. Can't help but feel that the overall effect would be that of the Blue Peter Tracy Island and that your kids could TELL

My lad wants some adidas boots. I'm going to get some 4 stripe ones for a fiver, and black out one of the stripes with a marker pen. He'll NEVER notice.

Back in the 70s a player turned up at our Sunday team in Winfield Specials with four stripes etc etc. Down to family situation finances were tight whereas we all had Puma and Adidas. The guy could really play and after the initial ribbing, it all died down and rightly so.

Unbelievably you can get the shorts here

http://www.discountfootballkits.com/Nike_Park_Knit_Royal_Blue-White_Football_Short

for £5.63, compared to the clubs £18 for junior shorts. That's a saving of £12.37 for the shorts, £4 for the socks. £16.37, if you get an iron on badge for £2.50, you've got the same shorts, same socks for £13.87 less.

The socks is a no brainer as they are exactly same, only difference on the shorts is the badge, but that's ironed on anyway!

Doubt you can beat that price

That's probably half the trouble with the England team today. The spoilt kids have to have all the right gear. That and blockhead kiddie coaches.

Globally the hungry kids from the backend of beyond with an extended family to support will do far better from here on in, because they have far more incentive to do so.

It's a fair point. Although pretty sure a young Wayne Rooney, Paul Gascoigne etc weren't wondering around in a £75 full kit.

Tho they were doubtless both under the wing of blockhead kiddie coaches. And both were/are clinical idiot savants who would be very hard pressed to hold down any kind of McJob apart from their magic feet that are attached to a bit of their brain that most of us don't even have access to.

That is also true! Although suspect that is nature rather than the nurture of not having a nice new full kit!

I'm a bit gobsmacked though that the socks and shorts are so readily available at such a cheaper price. I know we're not the only club that do this, but how can they justify the extra cost? Has anyone queried this with them?

If you spent your time better thinking about making money you wouldn't have to waste you're time thinking about how to save money
