City green spaces under threat!

With the pressure on the council to build more homes in our city by the sea is time to stipulate only city born people are entitled to buy within the city? One of the attractions is having green spaces to the north and the pond to the south, can Brighton cope with the present influx! Might find the prices stabilising allowing Brighton born able to stay in their city.

Assuming your initial post was a serious one, which it seems to be...

I feel genuinely very sad for the smart sparky kids currently living out their later teenage years in the best City in the UK without a care in the world. Once school/college is finished, the harsh reality is that about 95% of them will either have to stay at home until their parents die and they inherit the house, or they have to save like crazy til they're fifty to buy their own place, or they'll have to rent with half a dozen other former students on near minimum wage, or they'll have to go and live somewhere which, OK might not be technically 5hit, but sure as hell won't be Brighton. Meanwhile the White Flight DFLs continue to annex the town and transform it into something that reflects the same grasping priorities they had when they lived in London.

Disgusting state of affairs, to be sure.

This is why we're buying a house in Newhaven. One of mates is buying a flat by the level for £270k by the level. One bedroom and no real living room to speak of. Can't see the sense in that (to put it mildly).

There's pressure on the whole country to build more homes, and we just can't build enough, so really this should be a rule for every town, city and village. Everyone born outside of the UK should leave, and the rest of us should all return to the place where we were born. It's the only fair solution.

That's a fairly big assumption.

It's happening all over Sussex, not just in Brighton. These people can afford to buy properties out right. There knocking down one house and building two. If they can't build two then they spilt one in half, make it open plan and call it luxury living. Annoying when you remember what the original building used to be like and what a ripp off it has become. Also noticed new types of buildings, the types of buidling you see off Grand Designs.

The South East is now also having to take up the slack due to the lack of social housing in London, and also because the rents are much cheaper down here, but all it is doing is slowly driving the prices and rents up.
It's also why it has got so much busier down here over the last 10 years, and will keep on getting busier until it is at bursting point.

Local people don't stand a chance.
