Running Windows7 at home, and accidentally just pressed windows key+tab instead of alt+tab. I'll never use alt+tab again.

When you have important, unsaved work onscreen, press alt + F5 to see fairies

I wonder if anyone ever falls for the 'alt + f5' bait nowadays...hope so.

It wasn't by accident but windows key + M, will minimise everything (on your screen, pointing the keyboard at your dog and pushing it will yield no results).

I've got some post-it notes on my screen. Will they minimise as well?

These aren't by accident, but are used in my day-to-day job.
- Windows + P changes your dual screen set-up
- Windows + R opens the Run Command Dialogue box
- Windows + E opens Windows Explorer

Those are the important ones I use (as well as Windows + L and Windows + Tab)

Linux containers, virtual machines within a host without having to install an entire OS from scratch. marvellous for testing and tinkering in a contained environment.

I would like to add

Ctrl + shift + esc = task manager

windows + D = Show desktop

ctrl + tab = change tab in chrome, IE, Firefox

In Excel "Ctrl, :" will populate a cell with current date, "Ctrl, shift, :" will populate it with the current time (both fixed not relative value).

In Word if you highlight some some text then "shift, F3" yoiu will toggle it between all lower case, all upper case, first letter of each word upper case. Bizzarely picked this one up from reading "Saga" magazine in a Dr's waiting room and use it with reasonable frequency.

Turning a device off and on again resolves most techy issues.

So does a hammer.
It doesn't fix the problem but stops you having to worry about it.

Cheers didnt know this. Might make life easier for me.

I work in IT and I feel confident saying that 99% of first line support issues are resolved in this manner.

I believe the other 1% is kicking it and cursing at it.

Ctrl, alt and down arrow turns the screen upside down. Will never get bored of doing that to people who don't lock their screen at work!

Not so much an accident, but I was once needing to use a phonebox where the number "7" didn't work. I had a mobile phone but it had no signal. In a moment of desperation inspired genius I discovered that you can "play" the tone of a telephone number on your mobile keypad (for example the tone for "7"), direct the tone down the mouth piece of a telephone, and the telephone will dial that number!
