Have Calderon, Bruno and Ankergren put pen to paper on their contract offers yet?

Squad would be looking very thin if they aren't reporting back for pre-season

Maybe they are take it or leave it contracts and they are leaving it a bit longer to see if they can do any better elsewhere. On the other hand they might all still be on holiday.

In the Argus today:

"...the squad eventually assembled by Hyypia is likely to have a younger, fresher look to it. It will not be wholesale. The likes of Captain Gordon Greer, Bruno, Inigo Calderon...are still around".

I take it to mean they'll be staying. As for Ankergren I have no idea.

And what about Kaz? Is it the case that because we took the option out on extending his contract for the extra year that he's now our player, or is it a matter of him having to commit to that new contract, as with Bruno, Calde, etc?
As much as he's a talented player, he's immensely frustrating, and I can't help thinking that Hyypia had KLL in mind with his critique that we're too slow in our transition from defence to attack.

I think in the original article regarding the retained list the club specified that they had indeed exercised the option in Kaz's contract. I agree with what you say about him though, those moments when he just stops with the ball and waits for the opposition to assemble in the box are so irritating. If he sorts out his decision making I think he can be a huge asset.

Ta. Agree with all that. Kaz, for me, is the polar opposite of Thomas Muller: he's the most intelligent player, who always puts in an incredible shift, may even end up being the leading goalscorer in the World Cup for a fair while, and yet never could be accused of being the most talented player in the world.

We've only got 8 men...

The most frustrating thing about LuaLua is that most people with half a brain can see he's not far from being absolutely quality, he just needs to improve his decision making and left footed crossing and he'd be a class act. Hopefully a new coach will get the best of him.

I think his left-footed crosses were better last year (the ones that Ulloa scored at home against Millwall and Leeds spring to mind). It's the waiting for the defender to catch up just so he can perform a trick and go past him that annoys me.

I do agree. Nothing wrong with the trick that works, but it's using it at the right times that's key. As you suggest, doing it when we're already on the counter is pointless. His other issue is shooting - he has by far the best shot at the club, but he doesn't need to overdo it (see Forest away where he went close and then decided to hit another 4 from range). I actually think he got a lot better last year when given a chance, I just hope he keeps it up. Lots of people bang on about inconsistency being his biggest problem but I disagree - most wingers have good and bad games, I think it's expected in that position.

Anyway, an interesting season ahead for KLL. Now watch him have a blinder and sign for another club on a free at the end of it!
