Watching the evidence over the months, it was pretty clear Coulson was deep it and likely to take the rap. I suspected Brooks may get off the hacking charges but I really thought she would have been found guilty of paying public officials. Her husband was always likely to get off looking at the evidence. Hiding computer porn from his Missus? Hmmmmmm? Really?

I am a little surprised with the verdicts, I find it hard to believe that Miss Brooks did not ask some searching questions about the quality and number of The Screws exclusives and how they were obtained. Throw in the fact they were lovers at the time and I find it even more surprising that she knew nothing.

I saw Charlie & Rebekah Brooks yesterday near the Old Bailey. She looked ILL.

I don't know why but every time I see a picture of her I always think "bet she's got a messy minge."

Like a bag of cow tongues. Or a stab wound in the back of an orang-utan. You get the picture...

And that's the thing. As editor, she is responsible for what appears in the paper. She was always very fond of posing at her desk with the monitor showing the next Sunday's front page, and if she didn't ask the basic question "Where did we get these quotes" then she is incompetent.

But as has been said, always get in front of a jury if you can. They make very strange decisions.

As much as I largely trust the British legal system, I really wanted that evil bitch to get put away for a goodly long while.

As someone who worked for News International when she was in charge, I can only agree wholeheartedly.

Another gaffe by Cameron (re. Coulson). Although his 'lady friend' has been set free. Lame duck Prime Minister being held in office by a weak willed Nick Clegg and his barmy army.

No real surprises given the tangle of connections and closed ranks involved.
