Albion in the Community will again be part of the annual Brighton & Hove*TAKEPART*festival, which kicks off this Saturday at the city’s Preston Park.
The two-week festival, now in its seventh year, is run by Brighton & Hove City Council and is the largest community sports festival in the UK. AITC will be running a number of events and activities over the two weeks in locations across the city.
Visitors to Saturday’s free family day event, which is expected to attract up to 10,000 people, can get involved in a whole range of sporting activities run by AITC staff aimed at people of all ages and abilities.
A special AITC World Cup tournament for local primary schools, along with mini skills and fitness challenges for children between the ages of 5-16, will be part of the Football Zone at the park. The zone will also feature an Albion stall where younger visitors can get their hands on a free Brighton & Hove Albion goody bag, sign up for the Young Seagulls club and meet Sally and Sammy the Seagull.
The Amazing Zone will see AITC staff lead free taster sessions on disability sports including wheelchair football, wheelchair basketball and boccia. Visitors to the Health and Wellbeing Zone can take part in fun fitness activities, and simple fitness tests from the American Express Healthy Living Team.*
Mel Dunn from AITC told seagulls.co.uk,*“TAKEPART is all about giving people the chance to get involved in sport and physical activity regardless of their age, ability or background. This is very much what AITC is about so we have always been big supporters of the festival.
"We are all looking forward to the next couple of weeks and seeing Albion fans both young and old take part in everything the festival has to offer.”
