Sami Hyypia will start his career as Brighton & Hove Albion manager at the American Express Community Stadium when the Seagulls host Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day.
The full fixture list for the 2014/15 Sky Bet Championship season was announced at 9am this morning and for the first time since 2011 Albion will begin their campaign at home on August 9th.*
Hyypia and Brighton will have to negotiate a Capital One Cup first round home tie against Cheltenham Town before the first away trip of the season at Birmingham City on August 16th.
The usual hectic Christmas schedule has been relatively kind to Albion in terms of travel and games, with a journey to League One champions Wolverhampton Wanderers on the 20th before the Seagulls host Reading on Boxing Day.
With no game scheduled for New Year’s Day 2015, the festive period concludes on the 28th of December with Brighton’s first trip to Craven Cottage since 1996 when Hyypia’s men take on former Premier League side Fulham.
The business end of the season sees Watford as the last team to visit the Amex on the penultimate weekend of the campaign while Albion face a long haul to Middlesbrough on the final day.
