Relegated Cardiff City were top of the Premier League when it came to entertaining away fans last season.

A survey conducted by the Football Supporters' Federation rated the Bluebirds ahead of Swansea City, Hull City, Southampton and Arsenal.

Just over 5,300 fans took part in the survey, which covered all four professional leagues in England.

Fans were asked to rate clubs on such factors as food and drink, safety, transport and view of the pitch.

From feedback, distance of travel (44%), time and day of kick-off (42.6%) and ticket prices (40.4%) were the main factors for determining whether or not fans attended an away game.

The likelihood of watching their team win was the least quoted reason supporters gave for attending an away game.

Only 3.9% of respondents said this was a reason they would travel to an away fixture.

Crystal Palace finished bottom of the Premier League, below Merseyside neighbours Everton and Liverpool.

Sounds like bollocks if it's largely based on distance and day of kickoff, as these are uncontrollable.

It's the only way to Explain MK Dongs being at number 1, as it's such a dull place to visit and the ground is like a car park. Also probably explains why Leeds are last as they're always on Sky. Peterborough being near the bottom is a joke too: central, nice pubs, terrace etc.

Good to see Palarse in their rightful place though.

I have never been to see Cardiff in the Premiership but I would never have thought that a visit there could have been called safe. Not unless it has changed massively since I last visited.

Peterborough is an excellent away day. It probably has more to fans expecting to win and coming away with nothing which tends to spoil an away day!

Fortress Selhurst.

Nothing better in football than away fans hating their day and having it spoiled.
The reason they hate their day at Selhurst has nothing to do with the football experience and everything to do with the place being a total shit hole within a total shit hole of a town.

Surprised we're above Leicester, my favourite away day. Shows we're doing something right, well done to all at the club.

More like paying Premier League prices to watch a game in a stadium that wouldn't look out of place in the Conference South.

Wigan seccond? Peterborough almost last? Rubbish poll!

Wigan was great. The "marquee" under the away stand with big screen showing footie and cheap fish and chips was very good. Easy to park and get away too. And we won.

Do stadiums win games?

No , but away fans don't take kindly to woeful facilities and having concerns about personal safety if there is a fire or the stand collapsing around about them.

Peterborough no longer has the terrace as far as I'm aware so it's no surprise it's rated so lowly.. It was a terrible stadium beforehand but the terrace made up for it.

It's a pretty crap poll Blackpool is a top away day and Watford is not only a crap ground but a fair walk from the pubs and station. I also like away games at qpr.

I was unaware that discussion of points is illegal.

It is most amusing that when people bring up points that are unanswerable, your fans then ask for their removal of said fan. Rather petulant, no?

Its a bit of a crap poll really.

But Palace being bottom will have something to do with it being the worst ground in the league, which is well known to all fans that it actually is. They better start writing those cheques to start rebuilding.

You're post wasn't a discussion of point though was it. It was purely to get a reaction which ultimately sidetracks the thread into a binfest but you know that eh! Troll

I like Millwall away too. It's a nice ground that's easy to get to and pretty safe if you take the train. Seem to remember that the food and drink was ok too. Not like the old Den, which was proper scary.

However I have not been to most of the grounds so it may just be that the others are better.
