Business Consultation
Thursday 19th June, 2pm – 5pm, AMEX Stadium, Brighton
On Thursday 19th June, Toby Perkins MP, Shadow Minister for Small Businesses will
be visiting Brighton to listen to small business owners. This will be one of a series
of roundtable discussions the FSB are holding with the Labour Party across the
country. Previous sessions have been held in Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester,
Croydon and Leicester. Toby will be joined at the event by Purna Sen, PPC for
Brighton Pavilion; Peter Kyle, PPC for Hove and Portslade; Nancy Platts, PPC for
Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven; (Lord) Steve Bassam, Opposition Chief Whip
in the House of Lords and former Leader of Brighton and Hove Council, (Baroness)
Maggie Jones of Whitchurch, Shadow Education Minister; Cllr Warren Morgan;
Leader of the Labour Group, Brighton and Hove City Council. The objectives of
the series are to have a constructive conversation with small businesses about
what changes they would like to see to the business environment.
The meeting will begin at 2.00pm and will bring together 60-70 local
entrepreneurs and business owners from all sectors for an interactive discussion
on issues facing small businesses. This event will give local business people the
opportunity to openly discuss their views through constructive conversation on
what changes they would like to see to the business environment and to
interrogate specific issues more deeply. The event will be followed at 4.00pm by
a reception to give attendees the opportunity to network, meet other businesses
and continue discussion in an informal setting.
The FSB is promoting these events to provide opportunities for FSB members and
local businesses from Brighton and the surrounding area to influence policy.
