Rumours going round that Liverpool have agreed a fee with Soton for Rickie Lambert. They are also apparently close to agreeing fee for Lallana.
Could be 7 Liverpool players on the field for England in Brazil in a few weeks time!!!!
Does that mean the scousers will stop hating England??!!!

The fact that he is always worth a goal. It's a rare commodity, no matter what the player's other limitations are.

Rumours saying Liverpool will agree to overpay for Lambert whilst paying a nominal fee for Lallana to get around the sell on % to Bournemouth.

Apparently, due to some sell on clause with Lallana (payable to Bournemouth was it?), if Liverpool were to buy him on his own for the large sum he will probably command, Saints will pick up less from the deal. By Liverpool buying both players (Lambert would come in to replace Aspas who they are offloading) they will pay a ridiculously inflated fee for Lambert who has no such clause and then a moderate sum for Lallana, meaning Saints maximise the money from the deal. Or so I'm told anyway...

This, I don't particularly like B'muff but that really is low by Saints screwing them over like that.

Indeed...another team to call them Scummers...however, they won't get away with it & will be justifiably sued or whatever to ensure fair value is given

Never does it against the big guns when it matters though, sure he can pop up against West Brom at home but you'll never see him score at City or Chelsea, just not up to it at that top level which I would think Liverpool would be aiming for. And he's 32 for christ sake.

Thus making sure too much money doesn't "trickle down" the football pyramid to those horrible small clubs.

Lambert is a decent Prem third striker. The right move at the right time for him.

Agree with that. Relative small money for Liverpool's huge budget, in getting a player who's cut it at PL level in goals and assists.

Because of their similar career paths and team role, a few years back Lambert would have been lumped together with Grant Holt ... but Lambert have improved still further, whilst Holt has gone the other way.
