I read a interesting piece about this, looking back at how woman were married and ages of husbands, Mary was most probably between 12 and 14 and Joseph was more than likely in his early 20s, but this was not uncommon. In the Muslim world it is very likely that Mohammed took a bride of 9 years old but the marriage would only be consummated when the girl was deemed capable of having a child, so again between 12 and 14 . Different times its hard to get your head round it.
This does not defend the beheading and whipping tho, this is just taking it too far in tdays world.

Like any religion, it has many parts, some fighting each other, some living peacefully, some fighting everyone that doesn't believe what they do. As the Nobel Prize winning physicist Steven Weinberg said;
"Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."

It's no surprise that you fail to apply historical context in your 'critique', and just stinks of what the EDL et al say. I forgive you for failing basic critical thinking, since you have your head stuck in the loopy world of conspiracy theories and believe them to be outright fact.
Christians weren't exactly saints, the same happened throughout the Judeo-Christian world it was a cultural norm and valued as a way of life, this was also prevalent in the Islamic world. You also fail to mention modernised Islamic countries such as Malaysia and Turkey countries were non-Muslims have more rights and freedom than most.
Religion has its two sides, Christians are seen as the same in the U.S.
However, it's no surprise its continued, it doesn't help when the West intervenes in these parts of the world and tells them socialism and communism are anti-Islam and then arm them. They then later infer that capitalism is anti-islam and then revert back to sharia law. It's a common theme, and we've not learnt our lesson and we're paying the price for it now.

I think you need to read the quote again as it is grammatically correct. Good people - plural, evil things - plural, in the singular it would be a good person doing an evil thing.
