Let's keep this British and Eire only to make easier. But with Ryan retiring, is he in the top ten of all time and of so who would you say the other 9 are?

I can still remember his goal against us at old Trafford in the 90s when he'd burst onto the scene. His pace down the wing was an awesome sight, we did well just to lose 1-0!

I don't think he became the player he could have been. Save for the goal against Arsenal in 1999, he lost his explosiveness rather early and became a very consistent Premier League performer thereafter. But not in the top ten of all-time greats.

Seriously I think that Peter Shilton should be up there, as we have not had a decent England goalie since.

Bobby Moore, yep, seconded. George Best perhaps? Bobby Charlton?

Old Whiskey Nose has described Giggs on his retirement as a 'fantastic human being'...

Shilton? The falling oak? Awful ponytail or not Seaman was much better. Not that I think he should be included in this thread either.

Would Ryan Gigs really get above any of these?

If greatness is judged by longevity I guess he qualifies in spades but it's a long time since he was consistently more than a bit part player.

Of course playing for Wales limits opportunity but he invariably absented himself when they needed him and of course his private life takes off some of the gloss.

Niggardly maybe. He will be rightly remembered and was capable of great moments.

Perhaps the praise belongs on a Man U board rather than on here?

I think he won more than all of them together so he must qualify to rank along side. I'm not especially a Giggs fan either, but look at his medals and boy does it look impressive. That goal wasn't bad either!

All of them together? Where is his Ballon d'or then?
