Cook was a stand-out performer for Bournemouth this season and his efforts have not gone unnoticed.

The 23-year-old central defender has established himself as one of the best young players outside the Premier League.

Can anyone explain why we let him go?

Sky Sports understands Burnley have joined the chase for Bournemouth defender Steve Cook.

Cook was a stand-out performer for Bournemouth this season and his efforts have not gone unnoticed.

The 23-year-old central defender has established himself as one of the best young players outside the Premier League.

A number of clubs have been credited with holding an interest in Cook, but Burnley are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by luring him to Turf Moor.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche is actively looking to bolster his squad ahead of a return to the Premier League and is thought to have identified Cook as one of their top targets.

Bournemouth tied Cook down to a new deal last summer, but they are bracing themselves for offers for the former Brighton man as a result of his fine form at Dean Court.

Hopefully we have a good sell on clause with Bournemouth for Cook

I think it was right for us to let him go.

Cook was well down the pecking order at the time - He wasn't even on the bench with Greer, El-Abd and Dunk all ahead of him. Football is these young men's livelihoods. By selling him on, we have let Cook develop into a fine footballer. Sadly, at the time, we could not have offered that opportunity at Brighton.

We could have just extended his loan rather than get rid of him completely and I see this as bad business.

He certainly could have played a part in our future and it was a mistake to sell him. He had a great game at RB as well against Liverpool in the Cup and was probably MOM that day.

Unconfirmed (tweets between Cook , LuaLua and Sparrow at the time) that it is 40%. Good job we only sold him for £150K

Was that ever confirmed, or is it speculation ?
Clubs had different valuations and it went to a tribunal.

Tottenham Hotspur have been told that they must pay Brighton & Hove Albion £1.5m for defender Grant Hall.

The 20-year-old moved to White Hart Lane earlier this summer after turning down the offer of a new three-year deal with the Seagulls.

Despite the player being out of contract at Brighton, Spurs were required to pay a fee for his transfer because he was under the age of 24.

Hall made just one senior first-team appearance for Brighton during three seasons with the South Coast club.

Nice one, shame the spectre of FFP and the ongoing costs of the Amex swallows up so much money. We've done some good business in the past 3 or 4 years or so, but it often seems that investment in the playing side doesn't match the income from those who leave.

If a player wants to leave instead of sitting on the bench, keeping him would build up resentment. He was 4th choice CB, so it was only fair to sell him.

Who's to say that, if we had kept him, he'd have progressed so much?

What player sales have we made in the same time? Do they balance up the buys?
