Loved Cattlin, he made some superb signings too, Alan Young, Danny Wilson, Dennis Mortimer, Steve Penney, Hans Kraay, Frank Worthington, Dean Saunders.

My only grumble was that he never gave Ian Muir a fair crack of the whip.

He was the manager in my first "proper" season as a Brighton fan. I was gutted when he went

The one that got away really, I'm sure he would have been one of the best if he'd stayed. He did get it wrong for that FA Cup quarter-final against Southampton though, playing that donkey Mick Ferguson up front.
