Maybe he uses candles and wind up gizmo's instead of electrical power, the 50p is just the microwave

50p for the meter? Burke would come up with three alternatives- three tens and three fives, two twenties and five one pence coins and twenty two pence pieces which he had borrowed from a steward. None of these would meet what was needed but he couldn't be accused of not trying!
