Oscar Garcia says that Brighton & Hove Albion have had a fantastic season, despite today’s 4-1 defeat to Derby County in the Championship Play-Off semi-final second leg.
Strikes from Will Hughes, Chris Martin, George Thorne and Jeff Hendrick sent the Rams into the final at Wembley on 24th May, but Oscar insists that for his team to have reached the play-offs is a great achievement.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “I think if you can see the whole picture, it has been a fantastic season for us. Not many people would have thought we could reach the play-offs with all the injuries and everything that’s happened during the season, so it is a great achievement for us.
“Other than maybe the two penalties in the first leg, I can have no complaints and I don’t want to make excuses.
“In the first leg we were much better even though they finished third. We were the underdogs and deserved much more in the first leg, but in the second leg they were much better and deserved to go through.
*“They are a better team than us and they deserve to play in the final."
