On a more sober note, it is 29 years today since the Valley Parade disaster .

It hasn't been forgotten. I've seen many references to it today. RIP the 56 including two of my colleagues.

Nice to see this has some positive legacy with the local burns unit and the plastics surgeon honoured by the club on his retirement . And Lincoln named a stand after the two fans they lost.

I'll not forget that afternoon - at home listening to the BBC radio football programme. The reporter sounded quite calm about it at first, saying that he saw smoke rising from the stand and that he thought it would be evacuated . Then it got worse and more serious as it went on.... a terrible afternoon for all involved.

it came close to the Heysal disaster in 1985 and Hillsborough in 1989. A bad era for football.

What makes Bradford so tragic is there no way you could say the fans contributed to the situation....
