Brighton & Hove Albion’s recent visits to Derby County have been closely-contested affairs, with just four goals between the two sides in the last three meetings.

Albion’s latest trip to the iPro Stadium was back in January, when Chelsea loanee Patrick Bamford’s strike was enough to give Derby all three points in a cagey affair.

The two teams played out a goalless draw on the 6th October 2012, but the Seagulls recorded a hard-fought victory in November 2011, when Craig Mackail-Smith’s 13th minute strike was enough to take all three points in another close encounter.

Prior to that, the two sides hadn’t met in the East Midlands since August 2005, as Dean Hammond’s header was cancelled out by Paul Peschisolido to give both sides a share of the spoils on the opening day of the season.

The Seagulls ended up on the losing side on their four previous visits north, but recorded a stunning 3-0 victory back in the 1983/84 season in a campaign when Derby were relegated into English football’s third tier.*

The very first meeting on Derby’s turf was played just after Second World War on 13th February 1946, when County beat the Seagulls 6-0 in a FA Cup Fifth Round.

Albion claimed their first away victory over the Rams 14 years later on in 1960, as the Seagulls ran out 1-0 winners.
