Should Greg Dyke resign?

When Greg got the job my instant reaction was he seemed like a good bloke at the beeb, and being a Brentford supporter he would have an understanding of English football not limited to the Elite clubs.

Yesterday's report and plans were a total disgrace, the backlash is massive. Is he really fit for the job? Think some heads will roll here, but will it be Greg?

The most curious thing..
The B team idea is silly and won't help anyone (least of all the clubs in league 2), but much of the rest might work.

Extreme to say he should be sacked, but the potential ramifications of the plan should be made very clear, any change to the league system has to be in the best interests of every club in the League, both football and premier.

Danny Mills went on the radio today and said "Hartlepool fans would much rather play Manchester United B team than Torquay"

Then Hartlepool's Official twitter put out a challenge to say which fans would prefer, the result was 2,176 in favour of Torquay and 132 for the B team - showed him up and how out of place he was.

Exactly, nobody is interested in playing some B team of the Prem clubs

i would have said no, give him a chance to make his case. but having looked over the document (not read it exactly its rather late on a friday), i'd say yes.

because, his main and controversial proposal of B teams is one of only 4 proposals, (loans, home grown player requirments, non-EU visas), and he has missed a blatently more obvious and less controversial proposal of a formalised youth/development league that would suit the same aim without so much trouble.

and the document contents to page numbering is complete bat shit wrong, which is inexcusable.

(though the strategic loan proposal is a really good idea and almost saves him. almost. if it wasnt for the pagination.)

The "B" system will kill the loan market for clubs outside the premier and lead to the demise of poor clubs like Crawley

You say that like it is a bad thing ?

The B team idea is silly and won't help anyone (least of all the clubs in league 2), but much of the rest might work.

The B team idea might work in the future, but the first priority in any idea must be the league clubs it affects and not some pipe dream of world domination. If a B league can be incorporated that doesn't affect the FL, cool, if not, you can't impose it against the best interests of some very old clubs.

The oldest pro football club, Notts County should have a higher priority than Stoke City's under 21's.

The real problem is not lack of a B league its the lack of pro coaches for the cream of the kids being replaced by "get it long" have'a'go dads.

there are only 2,769 English coaches holding Uefa's B, A and Pro badges.

Spain has 23,995, Italy 29,420, Germany 34,970 and France 17,588.

Between them last four nations with miles more pro coaches, they have provided eight of the 12 finalists at all the World Cups and European Championships since 1998. England, have not appeared in a tournament final in 48 years.

There are 2.25 million players in England and only one Uefa-qualified coach for every 812 people playing the game. Spain, the 2010 World Cup champions, have 408,134 players, giving a ratio of 1:17. In Italy, the 2006 world champions, the ratio is 1:48, in France it is 1:96, Germany 1:120 and even Greece, the Euro 2004 winners, have only 180,000 registered players for their 1,100 coaches, a ratio of 1:135.

England 1:812

There's a mass of potential England players, we have more players than anywhere but no pro coaches to bring many of these kids on. Increase the numbers of quality kids, with quality coaching and we increase our talent pool and world cup chances.

Get the FA to seriously splash the cash Greg and offer free pro coach licenses to anyone who wants one, increase the number of quality English players breaking into academies with a lot more potential cream able to rise to the top.

Then come back and talk about your B league
