Inigo Calderon insists Albion need not go crazy as they chase a play-off comeback at Derby.
The experienced right-back is convinced his side can still claim a final place, despite their 2-1 reverse in tonight’s home leg.
And he reckons patience could be the key in Sunday’s return meeting.
Calderon, who laid on Jesse Lingard’s 18th-minute opener tonight, said: “We have to score but we don’t have to go crazy up there because it’s 90 minutes and it’s just one goal.
“We need to score one more to draw it.”
Calderon felt the Seagulls were out of luck tonight but said they gave it their all, even after falling behind to a freak rebound off Tomasz Kuszczak.
He added: “We hit the bar, they hit the bar and it hit Tomasz’s back and went in.
“In this kind of game one small detail makes a big difference.
“The second half was complicated. We knew we couldn’t concede one more goal or it was game over.
“At the same time we had to try to push and get at least a draw.
“We know it will be like that at Derby as well.
“I think we tried everything we could. We tried to pass, tried to cross, tried to shoot. We tried set-pieces, long balls, everything.
“We cannot ask any more from the players.
“We did everything and we will do the same up there. We have a chance.”
