Keith Andrews has labelled Albion a Premier League club in waiting.
The midfielder on loan from Bolton believes it is a case of when, rather than if, the Seagulls reach the top flight ahead of tonight's first leg of the play-offs against Derby County at the Amex.
Andrews made his Albion debut as a late sub in the 2-1 home defeat by Derby back in August.
He said: "There are loan moves I could have taken which geographically were better for me but ambition wise this was the right place to go.
"The attendances exceed some Premier League stadiums. The training ground is opening in the summer, the catchment area - it's got real momentum behind it and there are genuinely passionate people behind it.
"If we can do it this year that would be fantastic but I've no doubt it will come, sooner rather than later."
Andrews, 33, is still contracted to Bolton next season but would love to be playing for Albion again.
The Irishman said: "I've always been one to try to achieve things in my career and if we manage it and the club want to sit down and talk, and if we don't manage to get there, this club has become very close to me.
"I've really, really enjoyed my time here. The people here are genuine, so I would love to be back here playing but, as it stands, I am contracted to another club for next season."
