Good chance of being top next season if we stay down as Sunderland aren't coming down and there's no competition from Norwich, Fulham and Cardiff. Might have competition from Wolves, though. If we go up then we definitely won't be top next season :)

If BHAFC reported actual attendance (as opposed to tickets sold as they do now) we would probably be closer to 5th / 6th..

Only about a million times since we moved to the Amex.

Very dull. More interesting would be how home attendances correspond to away attendances (posted yesterday if you want to do the maths).

Are you assuming that no one else does the same as we do, or it wouldn't have the same impact?

Fairly sure that all clubs do the same thing as we do.

The 5 teams below us are all within easy travelling distance of each other. Their average away support would be higher.

All clubs report tickets sold. We used to go it alone in reporting actual.

It's interesting seeing how your away figures are dropping.
From a peak of 1609 in 2011/12, to 1367 in 2012/13, to 1200 this season.
You actual took more away (1396) in your last season at the Withdean.

But likewise they're also competing with each other for fans, whereas we have no club for about 40 miles to contend with. I would think home attendances and away attendances don't show too much correlation for this reason.

I assume in your detailed analysis of our away attendances you've controlled for changing factors such as distance between teams in respective seasons and mid-week fixtures vs. Saturday fixtures?

Just lifted them from a football league attendance site, anyone could do it, even you !!

The figures from the Withdean are very impressive, with around 20% of your home support travelling away.
Maybe now the novelty's worn off ?

Exactly the same group of supporters making the journeys, but maybe now less feel inclined to travel away when the home games are a bit less shit.

I shall now apply the Se20 logic to Palace's points totals over the last 2 seasons (ie ignoring all context, change in teams etc):-

In 2012-13 you had 65 points after 37 games.
In 2013-14 you have 44 points after 37 games.

You are clearly a far worse side now that 12 months ago.

Yes, but as you well know The Withdean was shit. There were a fair number who spent their coin going to away games rather than support at home where you were always distracted by your memories of having school sports day there.
