I think team locations lowered our average compared to others this year. Much easier for the northern fans to travel to localish teams

Not sure the FL's plan to boost away attendances by having localish games on a Saturday and the far away ones in midweek worked in our case.
Pitiful atttendances at Burnley, Shef Wed and Blackburn.

It's the usual suspects Midlands based teams have an edge when travelling, and some of those Northern teams have larger allocations for away teams, that said we have not done bad..

Most northern clubs have fans in London / south to call on. Brighton's closest away trip this season was Millwall, circa 40 miles away. If you think of distance Brighton have to travel compared to the midland and northern clubs then its pretty good. Almost exactly the ssme as QPR but QPR start most of their away trips in London, Brighton have to get to / past London first before making most away trips.. sorry if thats waffle simster!

Do Coventry get better away crowds than at home? (which might as well be considered away.)

Generally yes. They boycotted "home" games this season. I think they took 7-8,000 to Milton Keynes, on the other hand.

Rotherham also had an impressive away following looking at that table.

Have to say that the 'best fans in the world' (Portsmouth) have done bloody well. Similar location to us, two leagues lower, playing badly all season but only a couple of hundred down on us.

Edna won't like it mind.

If someone is desperate to pass the time today (of all days) then an equivalent matrix of club-club distances would allow the calculation of person fan-miles per team. Google maps would do it. This would be a better measure of away fan 'commitment'.

This still wouldn't allow for the 'exiles' factor of northerners living in London, mind, but would still be a better measure.
