Sacked as a 1901 host and accusing the club of being ungrateful in not valuing all he has done for the club

Kerry Mayo not happy....

Apparently, my 14 years of playing and 3 years of hosting & service means absolutely nothing to the people currently running #bhafc #1901

As a result, I shall not be hosting the 1901 any further. To all the people I entertained over the last 3 years, it's been fantastic! #bhafc

Sorry if fixtures!

Maybe he was not the host with the most

Looks all a bit toys out of pram and trying to turn people against the club without actually releasing any information - just what you need 2 nights before our biggest game of the season.

Without knowing facts, I've lost a bit of respect for him. Should the facts come out, then that bridge can be crossed should it happen.

What was he like as a match day host?

If he was good at it, it's a pity he's not been kept on.

If he was not, then his 14 years of (well paid) employment as a player, are scarcely relevant.

Without knowing the facts I'll assume either party could be at fault and will not lose any respect for either party. Why would you side with one side without any facts ?

Agree. We cannot offer jobs for life for any and every ex-player.

It has sometimes seemed like we do over the years.

I accept football is a business with far more emotional connections than most, but even so.

Because 1 party is turning fans against the club without releasing any facts. Either tell the full story or dont bother.

Turning fans against the club right before the play-offs is really not what the club need right now.

Sorry Casbom. We posted at identical times.
I am aware he will get massive support, especially from those who are avowedly opposed to commercialisation of the club (do they want us to go back to Withdean or do I recall the same complaints then?).
As a 1901 member I am not convinced that the host thing works - a former player dives in to read line-ups or lottery numbers then goes off again never to be seen again. I am sure there is a lounge where they congregate but it isnt mine. We make do more than adequately with staff who greet us every week, are attentive and helpful, and who generally do a great job. Should former players get priority because of who they are? Afraid I dont think so although I obviously do hope any employee's termination is handled with dignity (and that they respond in like manner)

Absolutely this! The club is being run as a business with the lack of feeling that goes with big business. The majority of the staff are new and with no real contact or feeling for the club and supporters. It's inevitable with the changes being made at the club I guess and the developments at the club would not have occurred without it but it's feeling less and less like my club now. I'm sure that Kerry feels the same. Doesn't mean that the club or Kerry are in the wrong. It's just that things are changing at a pace.

Similar thinking. It's Gary Chivers in the lounge I use, and whilst I'm sure he's a nice guy, it would take nothing from the experience for me, if he were not there. Maybe other people expect a host, though?

Great use of the word avowedly. Top work

No doubt all will be revealed in due course.

Mayo hardly seems the belligerent sort, makes you wonder really. Have any other ex-players been shifted on that we know of, ie is it some sort of policy change? Would be surprised if it was, as most clubs utilise the services of ex-players to host guests on match days, so perhaps the "jobs for the boys" comment wasn't really fair of me in this context.
