Overlooked due to things like injury time winners, and a pending promotion, but the Brazil world cup has been in the news the past few days..

first, the FA head of security is freaking out.

A man got shot next to the England Hotel the other day.

And stadiums are still not ready.

Also, in one of the host cities, some aggro involved someone losing their life...due to a toilet being thrown at them!

I do think that sometimes our media have a tendency to go hunting for bad news stories surrounding major sporting events overseas- be it a World Cup or the Olympic Games, they love to dig out something about how those foreign johnnies can't possibly cope. Actually, the likes of the Mail were confidently predicting London 2012 would be an expensive failure too, come to think of it.

I recall them slating Athens prior to the games there, and definitely South Africa before the 2010 World Cup. Unfortunately, construction is still a risky industry to work in, and the same applies in this country. I read something the other week about the death rate on British construction sites, which remains higher than it should be.
