Brighton & Hove Albion women head coach John Donoghue says his side should have claimed all three points after today’s 2-1 defeat to Lewes at Woodside Road.
Charlotte Young handed Albion the lead, before second-half strikes from Kirstie Spice and Clare Trafford gave the Rookettes all three points.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “You always try to find the positives.“We’ve lost a game against our local rivals and it’s taken them an additional three points ahead of us, but it’s a match we could and probably should have won.
“We had some really good spells in the first half and had the ball in their attacking half for a lot of the time.”
Donoghue also believes that his side have continued to improve throughout the season even though results have not always gone to plan.
He added, “The girls have worked so hard this season and there are so many players that have improved.
“Players are understanding their roles in the game better and the different formations we have been playing.
“Obviously a few things need to be looked at for the team to jump on and move onto the next level, but there are certainly reasons to be positive.”
