It might have been galling for Brighton supporters that when Peter Ward finally made the front cover of Shoot! magazine in 1980, it was in a Forest shirt.
Wardy even had the temerity to score the winner against Brighton at the Goldstone in 1981/82.
Finally, and astonishingly, even Hollywood got in on the action that season. The 1982 movie Forced Vengeance, starring Chuck Norris, includes Gordon Smith’s fine goal in Brighton’s 2-1 defeat to Forest in September 1981.*
Hopefully, there is cause for that sublime phrase ‘Uh-oh, Brighton’s gonna score again!’ to be uttered a few times today!
