Harry Towner was named as the James Brynin Fan of the Season at Brighton & Hove Albion’s Player of the Year awards ceremony. The brave youngster received the award from Efrem Brynin, father of fallen serviceman James, at the Amex on Tuesday night.

Harry became ill in March 2013 after being diagnosed with anaplastic large cell lymphoma, a rare form of non-hodgkin lymphoma. The 14-year-old was cleared of the cancer in October last year, but unfortunately relapsed in March and may require a bone marrow transplant once he is in remission again.
Despite his serious health concerns, Harry continues to be an incredibly committed supporter of the Albion and has only missed one match in the past year of treatment.
His mother, Claire, paid tribute to her son and the admirable ways in which he has coped with the illness.
She told seagulls.co.uk, “He remains very positive and is a kind and gentle boy.
“On a matchday they would unhook him from his last hour of chemotherapy on a Saturday morning and then drive him down to Brighton & Hove Albion to watch the match.
“In the whole time he was having treatment in the last year, he missed one match and that’s because the nurses and doctors forbid him from attending.
“For the hour or two that he’s there, he’s not Harry with cancer, he’s Harry in a crowd enjoying a football match. It’s escapism for him.”
