Surely he has a "pass" from the Good Friday agreement therefore cannot be prosecuted ?

Being arrested is not the same as being charged. It means you can be questioned under caution.

Nothing has ever stuck to GA and I'd be very surprised if anything sticks now!

This.

"Arrested" is correct but dramatic......it is just a mechanism to allow him to be questioned under caution.

As if he will tell the truth

Brighton factually.....

Is that true ? As in let's say they had nailed on evidence of him taking part in some way of a murder they cannot prosecute or charge him for a murder ? How the hell can that be ? Murder is murder, imagine if you were a family member of the deceased the injustice one would feel. Wrong on so many levels if that is true.

Timing is suspect with elections coming up (and as it should have happened 20-30 years ago anyway...).

Somehow think it won't amount to much but it will remind people what he was and where he came from at least.

If they put him behind bars it would all kick off again.

Absolute certainty, him and McGuinness and a few others.

It ain't right, it don't sit comfortably, but a couple of non prosecutions is preferable to another 10 or 20 years of murder and mayhem. And the bxxtards know it.

Unfortunately true, I'm sure they PSNI have a legal obligation to do this, but hopefully the CPS or whatever they use for these cases in NI will see the pragmatic perspective.

I remember an interview with a woman who lost her son or husband to the IRA saying this at the time of the agreement. She put her thoughts across very eloquently and essentially said if peace could be obtained in return for her forgiveness it was a price worth paying. I recall she spent a lot of time reconciling this in her mind. Brave woman.
