Albion head coach Oscar Garcia will know by the end of the day how many other teams are still play-off contenders
Albion will face as few as one or as many as five other challengers in the race to claim the final play-off place on the last day of the season at Nottingham Forest next Saturday.
The picture becomes clearer today when the Seagulls' rivals play their penultimate fixtures.
Ipswich have to win at Burnley in the early kick-off (12.15) to stand a chance of catching Oscar Garcia's side.
Albion's far superior goal difference means the same realistically applies to Forest at Bournemouth, who were knocked out of contention by the 2-0 win for Oscar's team against relegated Yeovil at the Amex last night.
Blackburn and Watford, away to Charlton and Derby respectively, also retain slim hopes of snatching sixth spot.
Reading have to win at relegation-threatened Doncaster to move back above Albion by a point.
The Royals and the Seagulls are the only clubs guaranteed to be in contention on the last day.
Albion can theoretically still finish fifth, although Wigan - at home to Blackpool today - need only three points from their remaining three games to deny them.
